Bye Bye Tonsils

Abigail had her big surgery yesterday - we said goodbye to her tonsils and adenoids (and hopefully to snoring and infections as well) and hello to ear tubes. It was a big deal and kind of hard on mommy and daddy, but Abigail did great! She was very strong this week. We read a book called Bye, Bye Tonsils.  She even told John a few days before that she was looking forward to surgery! (?) Then she proceeded to tell him that she thought she would cry a little bit but then after eating a few popsicles she would be ok.

However, the night before surgery the realization that she was really going to have to undergo surgery - she was suddenly not nearly as "excited". After calming down she came up to me and asked if we could call Braylyn and Morgan and ask them to pray for her. I assured her they already had and would continue to do so. This made her feel much better, and she was very strong after this. Unfortunately inwardly I was not so strong. I was trusting God, but it kind of broke my heart I have to say!

The morning of she remained very strong. A few times you could tell she was using self-control and not giving way to her emotions. She was very quiet (which is totally not like her) and a few times her lips would quiver.

Here we are pre op. She was making "cupcakes" on a game on John's iPad. The poor thing had not eaten or drunken anything that day - I don't know how she was doing it. She had to have been so hungry (lol)!

Here she is the morning after. The afternoon after surgery she was awesome. She was on a lot of medicine though so I was nervous what the next day would bring. However, she slept awesome all night and woke with soooo much energy!!! Her throat was sore, but she was back to her normal self! Amazing! As I was taking this picture she had just seen a short infomercial about this "really cool brush" that was "not expensive at all!" She was quite excited about it while eating a popsicle at 8 a.m. :)

The hardest part about recovery right now is she is not supposed to yell or strain her voice. Ahem - Abigail keep it down!? This is like telling a dog he can't bark! :)

After waking with so much energy I was nervous trying to figure out how I was going to keep her content at home "taking it easy." Thankfully, Cara called and asked if they could come visit! This was such a treat for us. They even came bearing gifts. So fun!

Haircut #2

Jackson is getting better and better at the hair cut thing - though it won't take him long to figure out exactly how much fun it is. You can't see it but he has one sucker in his mouth and a second in his hand! (lol) Another stylist in the store thought he was so cute she gave him two. He's sitting there watching baseball. His eyes were glued to the television the entire time. So funny.

Florida

We had a great time this year in Florida. All of us went at the same time this year which I wasn't sure how it would go, but we had a great time. We stayed in the same condo with Grant's family, and Darin & Arial stayed with my parents in their condo.

The kids did really well. Our kids slept well and stayed healthy which made for a super fun week!

She refused to give me the satisfaction of a smile. Stinker! But she sure does look beautiful nonetheless...

It was nap time. Abigail had woken from her nap early, so she and Braylyn were quietly watching a video together while the rest slept. I was reading on the porch and looked back and saw them sitting like this -  so cute!

Their smiles are just infectious! :)

Here is the crew! Not an easy feat to get this picture! :)

Children's Museum

This is so long overdue, but we were able to take a family day to the children's museum in February - the week after Abigail's birthday. It was so much fun! We didn't know how it would go with Jackson, but he LOVED it and actually was very upset when it was time to go.

Jackson was so funny. The entire day I could not get him to smile but he loved it. He was just so in awe of everything...It was hilarious. :)

Obviously we are still working on sharing.

Loving the sand...

The Barbie exhibit was so cute.

They had a runway and clothes you could dress up in. Then they had cameras off to the side so girls could pretend to be taking pictures of models on the runway.

Posing. :)

Warming up...

And now she gets comfortable. She started to have so much fun with this; however, our day ended short because shortly after this picture was taken, she got so excited she ran over to me. I was sitting on chairs (in the audience), and she tripped and banged her face into a chair really hard. She got a really good knot over the bridge of her nose and two black eyes.  Oh well - we still have good memories of a fun day.
