"Wash, wash, wash your hair all day long. Wash, wash, wash your hair while we sing this song." This has become one of my favorite songs. The other night I was sitting on the couch feeding Jackson, and I was listening to John and Abigail sing this song while giving Abigail a bath. It's a song that John made up for bath time. Abigail went through a stage where she hated to have her hair washed, especially when John did it, so he made up this song and would sing it to her while washing her hair - while she cried. :) But she has come to love the song and the tradition of singing this with Daddy while he washes her hair.
She is such a lover of music. The girl is ALWAYS singing something. If she doesn't have a song in her head to sing she will simply make something up. This morning I went to get her out of bed and feeling lazy on a Saturday morning I crawled in bed with her to cuddle for a while. I started humming a song. When I would stop she would ask me to sing it again. She also loves to dance with her music.
Lately she has been carrying around random books (that she pretends are song books) and singing with them. The other day she grabbed a Country Western Hymn book (this was actually a song book), one of her purses (of course), and the stroller. She informed me she was going to "Bible study, church, and small group." She then marched with purpose over into the kitchen. Next thing I know she is sitting on the floor in the middle of the kitchen holding her hymn book open belting out a song I did not recognize at all - something completely made up. The only word I could make out was God. So I know it was at least some song of worship. :) I wanted so badly to sneak in some video footage, but of course I was feeding Jackson. Plus I selfishly did not want the moment to end. It was so cute and fun to watch. I knew if she caught me videotaping her she would stop.
Sometimes I feel like my butt is permanently planted on the couch, and all I do is feed! Jackson - the kid loves to eat! He is just huge. We have a doctor appointment Monday, and I am anxious to see how much he has grown. I tried putting some pj's on him last night and literally had to like pull and stretch on them to get them zipped. And I just washed them the other day! So I know he has worn them within the past week!
Here is a cute picture of him figuring out how to suck his thumb. Not sure what to think about this...he has been working so hard at getting his thumb. I think it would be hard to break the thumb thing but frankly it's been hard to break the paci thing too, so which is the lesser of the two evils?
Here is a cute picture of John and Abigail together Saturday lying on the couch watching football (John was in heaven - it doesn't get much better than cuddling with your daughter while watching football in John's eyes. :))

Week of 10/10/10
Monday we went to Mom Gudeman's for brunch. Uncle Barry and Aunt Doreen were in town so we took advantage and had brunch with them. Cara and her kids joined us along with Grandpa and Grandma. It was a great Monday morning activity for us. Sometimes Monday mornings are downers, so it was fun to have something different and fun to do. I got some good pictures of the morning of the kids.
Mom got some new tents that the kids just thought were the coolest. Aunt Doreen, being the fabulous aunt she has always been, got in there and played forever with them! The girls loved it!
The rest of the week we didn't do much. Abigail's cold got pretty bad, so this kept us home most of the week. We did get in to see the doctor, so I was thankful for this. The doctor warned we could have a long winter ahead. We are discovering Abigail has allergies and asthma to the extent that when she gets colds she can't get rid of them - she ends up with infections requiring antibiotics. Then, on top of that the doctor just thinks her immune system isn't working quite right which explains why she keeps getting these colds.
Friday we went to Bluffton for John's cousin's (Joy) shower on Saturday. We had a great time in Bluffton seeing family and grandparents. Abigail then stayed with Grandpa and Grandma until Monday. I wondered how Abigail would do when the rest of us left Bluffton and she stayed, but she was FINE - actually was excited! Grandpa and Grandma have a nice family that lives across the street, and they have two young kids - Ally and Coy. Abigail just can't get enough of those two. She will literally ask at least once a day about Ally and Coy - where they are at, what I think they are doing, etc..
John, Jackson and I drove back to Lafayette to join some old college friends for a reunion. We went for dinner to Nine Irish Bros and then found a hole in the wall that had karaoke. It was a blast - sort of a cross-cultural experience but fun. :) Good times had by all...

Taking Over
So my dear hubby finally talked me into taking over this blog...I guess I do probably have more to say regarding my family. I am usually the one with the funny/cute stories at the dinner table. :)
I cannot believe it has been seven weeks since we were at the hospital!!! Crazy how time flies; although Jackson is growing and developing so quickly sometimes I feel as if he is older than seven weeks. He is such a good kid. He is smiling and cooing so much! Got a picture of him in his first 3-6 month outfit - compliments of our favorite babysitter (besides Grandma of course :))!
Abigail is growing and maturing like crazy too! She is actually my greatest motivator to start blogging. She says the funniest things! I keep thinking - I have got to be writing this stuff down! She loves her little brother. I've been impressed lately with how good she is with him. At first she made me a nervous wreck. One afternoon early on I had Jackson on the floor (big mistake), and I left the room for literally like 5 seconds. When I came back into the room, Abigail jumped up and said, "I didn't hit him!" She's gotten really good though, and I'm able to relax more. Though now she has junk in her nose again, so I'm back on germ patrol. The poor thing has had such a rough time this summer/fall. Allergies/cold? This is the million dollar question in our house right now!
Well that is all for now...stay tuned...
