Friends, Program, Museum...

Friends

We've had an active couple of weeks here. We had the privilege of catching up with some old friends who were in town a couple weekends ago. We had such fun.

How cute are these little ladies? Abigail and Jayla had lots of fun playing - so much fun in fact - that they are supposed to be winding down for bed. However, they were instead quite wound up and giddy.:)

Program

Abigail had an Easter program at her school. She of course did awesome. She's such a good little singer/performer.

Here she is painting her cross (the craft after the program).

 Donald Duck?

Silly Jackson (actually silly Daddy). Jackson got his pants wet during dinner, so John improvised "pants". I don't know why but he reminds me of Donald Duck here. :)

Children's Museum

The kids and I took advantage of our slower schedules this week - Spring Break for both Abigail's school and BSF. We went to the Children's Museum. Had a great time, but apparently it was spring break for a lot of schools! :) It was CRAZY! Thankfully the kids were well-prepared to obey momma and stay close! They did great.

Oh the beloved bulldozer. Jackson was in heaven.

Jackson assessing all the parts. :) Honestly, I was just breathing sighs of relief that Jackson was sharing so well (especially with his sister!).

Another reason I really wanted to go was for the Hot Wheels exhibit. I knew Jackson would LOVE this, and we hadn't seen it yet. I was right - it was a hit. However, it was surprisingly really fun for Abigail too!

The entry way to the exhibit was so cool with all kinds of little cars, lit up. Frankly, I think Jackson would have been content with just this. I had a hard time getting him past this - he even kept going back to it. :)

Racing their cars.

Abigail getting ready to race. She looks intense!

The motorcycles were very cool. The kids were so funny on them. They really took them seriously and got into it!

Don't ask me where she has seen these stunts - lying on the seat with her legs behind!?

They had a car where you could pretend to wash and put decals on - the kids LOVED it.

You could also pretend to drive. Too cool!

At the end of the day we were all exhausted and sticky (bribery/treat for leaving - juice and cotton candy). However, I feel like this is a sign for "a good time had by all." :)

Missing Tooth!

So we went to some friends' house for pizza last night. As we were leaving, John heard Mariana (Abigail's friend) ask, "Abigail, did you loose a tooth!?" Dismissing the comment we left, thinking maybe Abigail's tooth just looked different to Mariana. We had the kids in their pjs, ready for bed, as it was past bedtime and everyone was tired.

John and I drove separate cause he worked late. On the way home, he stopped by a Redbox to pick up a movie for him and me to watch after the kids were in bed. I had the kids by myself. Jackson was super tired, so I was hurrying, getting him to bed. Abigail went in the bathroom downstairs and starts yelling, "I lost a tooth! I lost a tooth!" I just thought she was being dramatic/emotional/tired. Sure enough she runs upstairs to show me. I could NOT believe it! We didn't even know her tooth was loose! And then come to find out the tooth right next to the now missing tooth is very loose too!

So fun news is Abigail lost her first tooth. Sad news is we have no idea where it is! :( Sentimental mommy is sad at least - Abigail couldn't care in the least.

Toothless smile :)

Treat for the next morning!

I asked her to show me a toothless smile - this was the best we could get first thing in the morning. :)

Winter Fun

I went away for a weekend to Cincinnati to a BSF leaders' retreat/conference. It was awesome. John did a great job entertaining the kids with fun stuff to do. Jackson's other love is big vehicles - including firetrucks, firemen, etc. We took the kids a while back to Firehouse Subs, and they give the kids fireman hats with the kids meals! The hats were so well-loved John took them back to get some more. :)

The first night he took them to Firehouse Subs. The second was another night of dining out - first to Wings, Etc for wings, french fries, lots of ketchup and ranch, and then to swirl for yogurt/candy. ;) Inwardly I cringe - but I'm thankful they all had such a great time.

We ladies had some time to kill the first afternoon we were at the retreat so some of us went to a nearby TJ Maxx - dangerous for me when I don't have my kids! I saw these cute Nike hats and couldn't resist bringing them back as a "souvenir". The kids loved them!

I don't know why but Abigail really wanted to do this pose for a picture. :)

Wouldn't you know it - the first of March - we received our first big snowfall for the winter! The kids and I took advantage and went out first thing in the morning. When most people were shoveling at 7 a.m. just to get out of their homes and off to work, we were shoveling/playing. :) I hope no one was trying to sleep in! :)

Jackson is really into PU Pete. John brought this hard hat home so he could pretend to be a construction worker, but Jackson quickly recognized it to be Pete's hat. :)

Abigail was inspired to take part in the PU theme. She got out her cheerleading attire, and did stunts with John.

The weekend after our snow it turned really warm! It was a muddy mess, but it was so nice out the kids went out after church to play. Because of the muddy mess we had a combination of snow boots, sweatshirts and rain jackets. What can I say? Weird weather requires weird attire. :)

Friday mornings we typically have a bit more of a laid back schedule, which is so nice at the end of the week. This week we had an even easier schedule because Jackson's PU play group/therapy was cancelled due to PU's spring break. The kids just played and played! I never cease to be amazed by the imagination and creativity kids have. Here they are pretending to be swimming and having a picnic (spring fever?). The blue blanket is the swimming pool, and they are setting up white napkins/"beach towels" for "lunch".

So Jackson got to meet PU Pete! We had tickets to the last PU b'ball home game. John and I had plans for the evening as well, so we decided rather than getting two babysitters in one day, that we would just take one of the kids. It didn't take us long to decide that John should take Jackson. John said he literally sat beside him on the bench and didn't move the entire game. John of course LOVED every minute of this! :)
